Queensland Prison and Penal Historical Association Inc. is a non-profit association formed by a group of accredited and fully experienced tour guides with Moreton Bay Environmental Education Unit and Queensland National Parks and Wildlife to research and promote Queensland's rich Prison and Penal History.

As the winners of a Brisbane City Council history grant in 1999, our research work on St. Helena Island includes:-

Linking the names to the numbered headstones in the Prisoners Cemetery
   
   
Research on the Warders Children's Cemetery,
   
   
Discovery of the famous Bushranger "Captain Starlight" as an inmate of the Prison
   
   
Compiling the only prisoners database.

 
We take pride in our extended knowledge and expertise.
 
Our members now include individuals from all walks of life, all dedicated to preserving Australian history and making it available to the public at large.
